What's different about your customer service?
- HONESTY - NO MONTHLY CHARGES - NO JARGON - AFFORDABLE (and that's just for starters!)
- HONESTY - We'll tell you things for free that you quite often have to pay for. For example we will not quote an outstandingly cheap price for a home page and then inform you that the extra pages are extremely expensive. We quote a full price from the beginning.
- NO MONTHLY CHARGES - for running and updating your site. A lot of designers want to guarantee a constant revenue stream by making a monthly charge. But does your site need to be updated monthly? Maybe not. You can just pay us when it needs to be updated. And we’re not expensive! Our prices
- NO JARGON - Don't understand "uploading / FTP / hosting / POP3 / bandwidth or a myriad other things. Well don't just pay up! We can sort out these things for you. We can find and register a domain name at a very competitive price and host your website. If you would prefer to do this yourself, no problem, we’ll help you for free!
- AFFORDABLE - At Milton Media we specialize in providing bespoke designs for realistic prices. Some designers sell pre-existing designs as bespoke work, we consider this to be a dishonest practice. We charge very competitive price for something totally unique.
What design principles do you apply as standard? There are several things we tend to build into each design we complete. Naturally these principles may not apply to your particular site, but i think that together they make up a solid bedrock upon which to base good web design. They include:
- USABILITY - Not boring design! But the ability to get from one place to the next easily. Using multiple links, and consistent layout. Customers don't like having to think on web sites. They just want the information.
- READABILITY - We use standard fonts at standard sizes, with enhanced line spacing for added legibility. Your customers get to absorb the information you present to them in comfort (see accessibility)
- ACCESABILITY - Some extra features which do not directly impact the look of the site, make it easier for the disabled to access information. These small, quality touches include; setting text heights with variable font sizes (this means a user can select "text size" from within Internet Explorer's Options tab so that sight impaired users can read your site) and setting "Alt text" for every image (this enables "screen reading" software for the blind to function) as well as putting in a "label" for the image should a user have his browser set to not display graphics.
- NO GIMMICKS - That's right...no animated .gifs, blinking text, sound, over-indulgent rollover effects or a myriad of other annoying and distracting features that tire your customers and reduce loading times of your pages. Sure...we can do them if you want them....but do you? We code solid, lean pages, with quality, discreet, rollover effects for buttons and links. Quality touches that reflect on your business.
- COMPATIBILITY - Different users use different browsers. Not everyone uses Internet Explorer 6. There's Netscape (groan) Navigator, Safari, Opera, Firefox and others.. These display your site in differing ways. Get the design badly wrong, and some browsers might not display it at all! We check each of these browsers so that your site displays well to everyone.
- SIZE - Not everyone has the same size monitor. We make our sites at standard sizes so everyone can see them.
- MODERN CODING - We use the latest, most stable and fast downloading coding.

Why do you recommend against template use?
We feel that each client we deal with is unique and each website should reflect that uniqueness and the specific requirements of that business. Template generated sites can look obvious and generally unimaginative. Not something we recommend you display to your customers. However, we also understand that some of our clients may require a more cost effective solution than ordering one of our bespoke site designs. The templates we offer are, we feel, of a superior quality than those seen elsewhere. They are specifically tailored for the media industry and are full customisable to fit your requirements. That means, colour, logos, even layout changes. We aim to please, and if we can't convince you to look at one of our custom designs, then we want you to be happy with a cost effective template adaption instead.
What about domain names and hosting?
Milton Media values your custom and we'll happily register a domain name for you at COST PRICE, or advise you on how to do yourself. We can also host your site for a yearly fee or advise you on how you can secure a quality web host for yourself.
Do you do search engine "optimisation"? Another very simple thing that i've seen fees being charges for! As standard i'll make sure all your "keywords" and "descriptions" are correct on your home page file. I'll submit your page to Google (which would find it within a fortnight anyway!) and submit the page to the other major search engines. You'll hear people talking about "submitting your page to over 3000 search engines" (but remember: nearly all these other search sites use Google’s engine now anyway! And 97% of your visitors will arrive from Google, Yahoo and a couple of others)
What other services do you offer? We also offer a full range of print design services including:
- Business Card design (and printing if required)
- “One page” presentation sheets in a variety of sizes (and printing if required)
- Brochure design and printing
- Flyer, poster and invitation design and printing
And our other digital services include:
- Interactive cd-rom / dvd presentations
- Dvd menu building
- Image enhancement
Please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.
How do i communicate with you most effectively?
There are numerous ways to contact us. They are all listed on the contact page. We respond to all emails within 24 hours, and have various other methods of contact, including instant messaging.
What are your prices?
Our prices are extremely competitive. We list some sample prices on our services page. But be aware that these are just SAMPLE prices based on average scenarios. Your quote could easily be less, mail us and find out!
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes we do. We guarantee our web work for a period of two months. We consider this a "bedding in" period, so we will tweak your pages for free during this period until you are completely happy. Naturally we will make a small charge for any major alterations you may require. We want you to be happy!
What if i'm unhappy with the design?
Well, during our planning phase we should have discussed at length your particular requirements before we generated the entire site. It takes a few hours to show you what it COULD look like. But several days to make it actually work. By this time we should both be happy. So i hope i never have to upload a finished site or send prints to a dissatisfied customer. It has never happened yet, but if it ever does, just send the prints back and keep your money. It'll be our loss. But it hasn't happened yet. Everyone's been happy!
Why do you sometimes contact customers directly? Because we get tired of seeing so much poor design on the web! A lot of the time, when we contact someone, they are surprised to see how much more professional their website could look. They simply don't realise that it could look so much better. They haven't investigated the issue before and are usually pleased to hear from us.
Where are you located?
We have offices in London, England and Denmark. See here for our contact details.
